Introduction About HEPARITZ 5000 INJECTION

HEPARITZ 5000 INJECTIONcontains Heparin which belongs to the group of medicines called Anticoagulants. It is used to manage blood clots in leg veins (deep vein thrombosis), blood clots in the lung (pulmonary embolism), chest pains resulting from disease of the heart arteries (unstable angina pectoris), severe blockages affecting arteries in the legs (acute peripheral arterial occlusion).

HEPARITZ 5000 INJECTION is also used during heart, lung operations, during kidney dialysis and management of blood clots in the heart following a heart attack (mural thrombosis). A blood clot or thrombus is a gel-like collection of blood that form in arteries or veins when blood changes from liquid to partially solid form.

HEPARITZ 5000 INJECTION is not recommended for use if you have liver disease, serious bleeding problems, haemophilia, bruise easily, high blood pressure, tuberculosis, major trauma, have had severe skin problems resulting from previous heparin management, surgery of the brain, spine or eye, a lumbar puncture or receiving anesthetic, had an operation, thrombocytopenia, bleeding into the brain, drink a lot of alcohol.

Before receiving HEPARITZ 5000 INJECTIONinform your doctor if you have kidney disease, diabetes, a condition that makes you bleed easily, or suffer from excess acid or high levels of potassium in your blood. Do not consume alcohol, tobacco, or smoke during this management.

HEPARITZ 5000 INJECTION should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women. HEPARITZ 5000 INJECTION is not recommended for use in premature and newborn babies (up to 4 weeks old). Ask for your doctor’s advice.

HEPARITZ 5000 INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients above 60 years of age. The most common side effects of receiving HEPARITZ 5000 INJECTION are red lumps or red, itchy patches like eczema at injection site. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not show improvement.
