Introduction About METHYCOBAL INJECTION

METHYCOBAL INJECTION contains Methylcobalamin, which belongs to the group of medicines called Vitamins. METHYCOBAL INJECTION is used to manage diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage caused by diabetes), peripheral neuropathy (peripheral nerve damage that affects hands, feet, and arms), and megaloblastic anaemia (blood disorder) caused by vitamin B12 deficiency in affected individuals.

METHYCOBAL INJECTION is also used to manage sciatica pain (leg pain), back pain, and general weakness in affected individuals.

METHYCOBAL INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients allergic to mecobalamin and/or other B12-containing medicines.

Before receiving METHYCOBAL INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have Leber’s disease (an inherited form of vision loss) and/or are suffering from low potassium levels (with associated signs such as muscle twitches/cramps, low blood pressure), optic nerve disease (swelling and nerve damage to the eyes), and kidney and/or liver problems.

METHYCOBAL INJECTION is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in breastfeeding women. It should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged 6 months to 18 years) and in elderly patients (aged above 65 years) after consulting the doctor.

The most common side effects of receiving METHYCOBAL INJECTION are headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, skin rash, and/or hot flushes. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsen.

Uses Of METHYCOBAL INJECTION

  • Manage diabetic and peripheral neuropathies
  • Manage megaloblastic anaemia (caused by vitamin B12 deficiency)
  • Manage sciatica pain (leg pain), back pain, and general weakness in affected individuals.

How METHYCOBAL INJECTION Works

METHYCOBAL INJECTION works by aiding in the synthesis of myelin (a lipid-rich material that covers nerve fibers), which helps in protecting the nerve fibers and thereby providing relief from diabetic and peripheral neuropathy, sciatica pain, and back pain in affected individuals. It also promotes nucleic acid synthesis in the bone marrow, which helps in the maturation and division of erythroblasts, thus managing poor production of red blood cells and thereby improving megaloblastic anaemia in affected individuals.

How to use METHYCOBAL INJECTION

METHYCOBAL INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenous injection or into the muscle as an intramuscular injection. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.
