INTRODUCTION ABOUT STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET
STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) or a certain type of chest pain called angina. It contains Amlodipine which belongs to the group of Anti-hypertensives agents. In patients with high blood pressure STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET works by relaxing blood vessels, so that blood passes through them more easily. In patients with angina STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET works by improving blood supply to the heart muscle which then receives more oxygen and as a result chest pain is managed. This medicine does not provide immediate relief of chest pain from angina.
It is not recommended if you have narrowing of the aortic heart valve (aortic stenosis) or cardiogenic shock or suffer from heart failure after a heart attack. It should be used with caution if you have recent heart attack or heart failure, severe increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis) or any liver disease.
The safety of STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET in pregnancy or breastfeeding has not been established. It has not been studied in children under the age of 6 years. It should only be used for hypertension in children and adolescents from 6 years to 17 years of age. It should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age. The most common side effects of taking are dizziness, headache, nausea, edema (fluid retention). Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.
USES OF STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET
It is used to manage:
- high blood pressure (hypertension)
- certain type of chest pain called angina
- prinzmetal’s or variant angina
HOW STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET WORKS
STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET contains Amlodipine. In patients with high blood pressure it works by relaxing blood vessels, so that blood passes through them more easily. In patients with angina it works by improving blood supply to the heart muscle which then receives more oxygen and as a result chest pain is managed. This medicine does not provide immediate relief of chest pain from angina.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
- Take STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET as advised by your physician
- Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine
- Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition
SIDE EFFECTS OF STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET
Common Side Effects of STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET:
- oedema
- headache, dizziness
- sleepiness, tiredness, muscle cramps
- palpitations (awareness of heart beat)
- flushing
- abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation, indigestion
- nausea
- altered bowel habits
- visual disturbances, double vision
- vomiting
- joint or muscle pain, back pain
Stop taking the medicine, and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- sudden wheeziness, chest pain, shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing
- swelling of the tongue and throat which causes great difficulty breathing
- severe skin reactions including an intense skin rash, hives, reddening of the skin over your whole body, severe itching, blistering, peeling and swelling of the skin, inflammation of mucous membranes (stevens-johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis) or other allergic reactions

PREGNANCY

The safety of STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET in human pregnancy has not been established. If you think you might be pregnant, or are planning to get pregnant, consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
BREASTFEEDING

STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET has been shown to pass into breast milk in small amounts. If you are breast-feeding or about to start breast-feeding, consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Use with Caution
Do not drive or handle any machines if you experience sickness, dizziness or tiredness or headache after taking STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET.
LIVER
Use with Caution
STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver disease.
ALLERGY
Contraindicated
Do not take STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET if you are allergic to Amlodipine or any other ingredients of this medicine.
HEART DISEASE

USE IN GERIATRICS
Use with Caution
STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Dosage will be adjusted accordingly.
OTHERS
STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have signs of an allergic reaction may include itching, reddening of the skin or difficulty in breathing
- have severe low blood pressure (hypotension)
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug Interactions:
Before taking STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET inform your doctor, if you are taking or receiving any of these medicines:
- Anti-fungals (Ex. ketoconazole, itraconazole)
- Protease inhibitors (Ex. ritonavir, indinavir, nelfinavir)
- Antibiotics (Ex. rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin)
- St. John’s Wort (Ex. hypericum perforatum)
- Heart medicines (Ex. verapamil, diltiazem)
- Skeletal muscle relaxant (Ex. Dantrolene)
- Immunosuppressants (Ex. tacrolimus, sirolimus, temsirolimus, everolimus, ciclosporin)
- HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (Ex. Simvastatin)
B. Drug-Food interactions:
Grapefruit juice and grapefruit is not recommended while taking the medicine. This is because grapefruit and grapefruit juice can lead to an increase in the blood levels of the active ingredient amlodipine, which can cause an unpredictable increase in the blood pressure lowering effect of the medicine.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of STAMLO 2.5MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Overdosage symptoms are low blood pressure. You may feel dizzy, lightheaded, faint or weak. Excess fluid may accumulate in the lungs (pulmonary oedema) causing shortness of breath that may develop up to 24-48 hours after intake.
