INTRODUCTION ABOUT STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION
STPASE
1500000IU INJECTION contains Streptokinase which belongs to the group
of medicines called Anti-thrombotic agents. It is used to dissolve blood
clots formed within the blood vessels. By dissolving blood clots, it
helps in reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, pulmonary embolism
(blood clot in the lungs), deep vein thrombosis (blood clot in the blood
vessels supplying the legs) and arterial thrombosis (blood clot in
arteries).
It can also be used for clearing the blockage
(occlusion) of arteriovenous cannulae (a device used for blood
circulation) as an alternative to surgical intervention when acceptable
flow cannot otherwise be achieved.
Before receiving STPASE
1500000IU INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or
heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have any
bleeding or blood clotting disorders, stroke, stomach inflammation or
any internal conditions that can increase of bleeding, or if you have
recently undergone a surgery as a precaution.
STPASE 1500000IU
INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with uncontrollably
high blood pressure and in women who recently delivered a child or
suffered a miscarriage. It is also not suitable for use in pregnant or
breastfeeding women.
The most common side effects of receiving
STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION are bleeding at the injection site, bruising
of the skin, increased bleeding tendency, irregular heartbeat, nausea,
vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, fever and chills. Consult
your doctor if any of these side effect troubles you.
USES OF STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION
- Used to dissolve blood clots formed within the blood vessels
- Prevents heart attack, stroke, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis and arterial thrombosis
- Used to unclog occlusion of arteriovenous cannulae
HOW STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION WORKS
STPASE
1500000IU INJECTION is fibrinolytic agent. It works by dissolving the
harmful fibrin blood clots formed within the blood vessels. As a result,
it improves blood flow within the blood vessels which helps in the
management of complications caused due to blood clots such as heart
attack, stroke, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis and arterial
thrombosis.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
STPASE
1500000IU INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse
into the vein (intravenously) or into the artery (intraarterially).
Your
doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you
depending upon your age, body weight and severity of infection.
SIDE EFFECTS OF STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION
COMMON
- bleeding at the injection site
- bruising of the skin
- increased bleeding tendency, nasal bleeds
- slow or fast heartbeat
- nausea, vomiting
- diarrhoea, stomach pain
- headache
- muscle pain, back pain
- fever, chills, weakness, tiredness
- increased infections
UNCOMMON
- bleeding into eyes or joints
RARE
Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects after receiving STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION:
- signs
of severe allergic reactions (such as skin rash, flushing, itching,
blistering, swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue causing
difficulty in breathing or swallowing, low blood pressure) - severe headache, dizziness, breathing difficulties, chest pain, pain and swelling in legs
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Diarrhea
Drink
plenty of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself
hydrated. Consuming ORS can also be beneficial. Do not consume any
medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. If your diarrhea
worsens, contact your doctor immediately.
Headache
Rest
and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as
water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead
can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could
aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Nausea And Vomiting
Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if nausea worsens.

PREGNANCY
Contraindicated
STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it.
BREASTFEEDING
Contraindicated
STPASE
1500000IU INJECTION may pass through breast milk. Therefore, it is not
recommended for use in breastfeeding women. However, consult your doctor
before receiving it.
ALCOHOL
Consult your doctor
Avoid consumption of alcohol while receiving STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION.
KIDNEY
Contraindicated
STPASE
1500000IU INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with severe
kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it.
LIVER
Contraindicated
STPASE
1500000IU INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with severe
liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it.
ALLERGY
Contraindicated
Talk to your doctor before receiving STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION if you are allergic to Streptokinase.
LUNGS
Use with Caution
STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION should
be used with caution in patients with tuberculosis or severe
bronchitis. Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it.
HEART DISEASE

STPASE
1500000IU INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with
uncontrollably high blood pressure or inflammation surrounding the
membranes of the heart (endocarditis). It should be used with caution in
patients with other heart problems (such as high blood pressure).
Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it.
USE IN PEDIATRICS
Contraindicated
STPASE
1500000IU INJECTION is not recommended for use in children and in
adolescents (aged below 18 years) due to lack of safety data. Therefore,
consult your doctor before receiving it.
USE IN GERIATRICS
Use with Caution
STPASE
1500000IU INJECTION should be used with caution in the elderly
patients. Therefore, consult your doctor before receiving it.
OTHERS
STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION is not recommended for use if you:
- currently have or recently suffered any internal bleeding condition
- recently suffered a stroke or serious head injury
- recently had a surgery on your head or spine
- have brain tumour or any tumour which can increase the risk of bleeding
- have weak or abnormally bulged arteries (aneurysm)
- have blood clotting disorders
- are taking medicines to stop blood clotting
- have increased bleeding tendency
- have inflammation of the pancreas
Before receiving STPASE 1500000IU INJECTION, inform your doctor if you:
- have bleeding in the gut or recently had a stomach condition that led to internal bleeding
- recently undergone any major surgery
- recently delivered a child or suffered a miscarriage
- have problems in genital tract or urinary tract
- have septic thrombotic disease (blood poisoning that causes clotting)
- have any disease affecting your brain or arteries
- have a bacterial infection (rheumatic fever, throat infection)
- have an eye damage caused due to diabetes
