INTRODUCTION ABOUT UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION contains Mesna, which belongs to a group of medicines called Cytoprotective agents. UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION is used to protect the bladder and kidneys from cancer chemotherapy involving cyclophosphamide and ifosfamide as an anticancer medicine.

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION is also used to reduce the risk of bleeding from the bladder when Ifosfamide is used as a chemotherapy drug in affected individuals.

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Mesna.

Before receiving UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have liver problems (such as hepatic impairment), and/or kidney problems (such as renal impairment).

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy as it is not known whether the medicine can cause harm to the unborn baby. It is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) only if necessary since it is not known whether the medicine is safe and effective in children. It is also advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or older) after consulting the doctor.

The most common side effects of taking UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION are headaches, dizziness, constipation, flu-like symptoms, sore throat, fever, cough, and/or diarrhea. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.

USES OF UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION

  • Protects the bladder and kidneys from cancer chemotherapy involving cyclophosphamide and ifosfamide as an anticancer medicine
  • Reduces the risk of bleeding from the bladder when Ifosfamide is used as a chemotherapy drug in affected individuals

HOW UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION WORKS

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION works by protecting the lining of the bladder and kidney from by-products of cyclophosphamide and ifosfamide, which get formed in the body after its administration as a chemotherapy medicine in affected individuals.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenous infusion. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION

COMMON

  • headaches
  • dizziness, constipation, diarrhea
  • flu, sore throat, cough

Stop taking UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION and contact your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • chest pain, rash, and/or itching

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Constipation

Try to eat high-fiber foods such as vegetables, cereals, and fresh fruit, and drink plenty of water. Involve yourself in regular exercise (going for a daily walk or run), and if this does not help, consult, and inform your doctor about receiving alternate managements for constipation.

Diarrhea

Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptoms worsen.

Dizziness Or Drowsiness

Try to rest and get enough sleep. Try to avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you feel dizzy. Limit your consumption of alcohol, as it can aggravate dizziness. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptoms worsen.

Headache

If UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION causes headaches, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of receiving UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION. If it lasts more than a week or becomes severe, then consult your doctor.

PREGNANCY

Monitoring required

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy unless it is clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.

BREASTFEEDING

Contraindicated

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION is not recommended for use by breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Use with Caution

Do not drive or operate machines if you experience syncope, light-headedness, lethargy, drowsiness, dizziness, and/or blurred vision after receiving UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION.

KIDNEY

Use with Caution

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems, such as renal impairment. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.

LIVER

Use with Caution

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver problems such as hepatic impairment. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.

ALLERGY

Contraindicated

Do not receive UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Mesna and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.

USE IN PEDIATRICS

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) only if necessary since it is not known whether the medicine is safe and effective in children. Consult your doctor before administering the medicine to the child.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before receiving UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • oxazaphosphorine, cyclophosphamide, and ifosfamide (anticancer medicines)
  • cytostatics (used to block the growth of cancer cells) Ex. adriamycin, methotrexate, and vincristine

Overdosage:

UROMITEXAN 200MG INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so you are unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, fatigue, limb and joint pains, rash, flushing, low blood pressure, a slow or fast heart, paraesthesia (tingling or numbness in the legs or arms), fever, and/or bronchospasm.
