Introduction About WALACORT TABLET
WALACORT TABLET contains Betamethasone, which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids. It is used to manage many different types of conditions, including asthma and severe allergic reactions, certain conditions of the blood, rheumatoid arthritis (chronic inflammatory diseases affecting the joints), autoimmune diseases (like systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and polyarteritis nodosa), inflammatory conditions of the skin, kidney (like acute interstitial nephritis), bowels (like ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease) and heart, some connective tissue disorders and malignant lymphoma. WALACORT TABLET also help to manage organ transplant rejection following organ transplant surgery.
Your doctor might recommend you take relevant tests to understand your condition before starting management with WALACORT TABLET. Avoid drinking alcohol while using WALACORT TABLET as it may worsen your existing condition.
WALACORT TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with an infection and who are not taking antibiotics. Before taking WALACORT TABLET, inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, heart problems, underactive thyroid gland, severe mental illness, tuberculosis, epilepsy, hypertension, pheochromocytoma, glaucoma, or diabetes.
WALACORT TABLET should be used with caution among women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. WALACORT TABLET should be used with caution in children, adolescents, and elderly patients. Contact your doctor if any of the above symptoms worsen. Consult with your doctor if you experience any unusual behaviors, self-harming or depression, etc. after taking WALACORT TABLET.
Uses Of WALACORT TABLET
It is used to manage many different types of conditions including:
- Asthma
- Severe allergic reactions
- Certain conditions of the blood
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Autoimmune diseases (like systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and polyarteritis nodosa)
- Inflammatory conditions of the skin, kidney (like acute interstitial nephritis), bowels (like ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), and heart

How WALACORT TABLET Works
WALACORT TABLET inhibits certain chemical pathways in the body which reduces the formation of substances (arachidonic acid) that causes pain. It also enhances anti-inflammatory genes like interleukin 10. Thus, it helps in reducing pain and inflammation.
How to use WALACORT TABLET
Take WALACORT TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with enough water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Try to take WALACORT TABLET daily at the same time. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of WALACORT TABLET for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of WALACORT TABLET
Rare
Stop taking WALACORT TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- feeling depressed and suicidal thoughts
- feeling high (mania) or moods swings
- feeling anxious, having sleeping problems, having difficulty thinking or being confused, and losing the memory
- feeling, hearing or seeing things that do not exist
- having strange and frightening thoughts
- changing how you act or having feelings of being alone
- allergic reactions (signs include rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swelling of the lips, face, throat, or tongue
- blistering or bleeding the skin including around the nose, lips, eyes, mouth, and genitals
- Stevens-Johnson syndrome (flu-like symptoms and fever)

Pregnancy
WALACORT TABLET should be used with caution by pregnant women as it may slow down the baby’s growth or may temporarily affect baby’s body and heart movements. If you become pregnant while taking WALACORT TABLET, inform your doctor and do not stop taking the medicine unless are told to do so by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking WALACORT TABLET.

Breastfeeding

Others
WALACORT TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:
- an infection and / or taking antibiotics
Before taking WALACORT TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:
- tuberculosis (TB)
- epilepsy (fits)
- glaucoma (raised eye pressure)
- chickenpox, shingles, or measles, or having contact with a person having these
- diabetes
- underactive thyroid gland
- myasthenia gravis
- to be vaccinated or vaccinated
- hypertension (high blood pressure)
- osteoporosis (thinning of bones specifically in postmenopausal women)
- pheochromocytoma (tumor of adrenal gland)
- had an ulcer in stomach or gut
- blurred vision or other visual problems
- severe mental illness
Use in pediatrics:
WALACORT TABLET should be used with caution in children. Your doctor will decide the correct dose depending upon your child’s age, health condition and body weight. consult with your child’s doctor.
Use in geriatrics:
WALACORT TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking WALACORT TABLET.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking WALACORT TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- insulin or oral antidiabetic drugs (Ex. metformin, sitagliptin, glimepiride)
- medicines used to manage HIV (Ex. ritonavir, cobicistat)
- medicine used for hypertension (Ex. amlodipine, telmisartan), heart problems (Ex. digoxin), hypotension (Ex. ephedrine)
- water tablets (diuretics) used to manage fluid retention (Ex. furosemide)
- medicines used for thinning of the blood (Ex. warfarin)
- medicines used to manage pain and inflammation such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (Ex. ibuprofen), salicylates (Ex. aspirin)
- medicines used to manage glaucoma (Ex. acetazolamide)
- medicines used for myasthenia gravis (Ex. pyridostigmine)
- medicines used to manage tuberculosis (Ex. rifampicin, rifabutin)
- medicines used to manage epilepsy (Ex. carbamazepine, phenytoin, primidone, phenobarbitone, aminoglutethimide)
- medicines used as oral contraceptives to manage pregnancy (Ex. estradiol, levonorgestrel)
- medicines used to induce abortion in early pregnancy (Ex. mifepristone)
- growth hormones to manage conditions like growth failure and short stature (Ex. somatropin)
