INTRODUCTION ABOUT LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS
LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS is a combination of Timolol and Travoprost which belongs to the group of medicines called Beta-blockers and Prostaglandin analogs respectively. LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS is indicated to decrease the elevated pressure in the eye among adult patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who are insufficiently responsive to topical beta blockers or prostaglandin analogues.

HOW LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS WORKS
LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS effectively reduces elevated pressure in the eye, where timolol acts by decreasing the production of fluid in the eye (aqueous humor) and travoprost acts by increasing the drainage of aqueous humor from the eye. Collectively they decrease the elevated pressure within the eye.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Use LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Instill the prescribed amount of the medicine into your eye(s). Follow the following steps while using LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS:
- Wash your hands thoroughly before application
- Tilt your head slightly backwards and gently pull down your lower eyelid
- Gently squeeze the bottle and instill the medicine drop wise into your eye
- Close your eyes and gently press the corner of your eye with a finger for 2 minutes to avoid leakage of the medicine from your eye
- If necessary, repeat the same steps for the other eye
- Close the bottle and wash your hands
Do not touch the tip of the dropper with your fingertips, eyelids or other parts of the eye surface to avoid the risk of contamination. Do not use LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS for more than 4 weeks after opening it to manage infections. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your condition. Continue to use LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS, if your doctor tells you to do so, to obtain better results.
SIDE EFFECTS OF LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS
COMMON
- eye redness, pain or eye surface inflammation
- abnormal or blurred vision
- eye discomfort
- dry or itchy eyes
- signs of eye irritation (burning or stinging sensation in the eye)
UNCOMMON
- inflammation of the iris or eyelids
- eye swelling
- increased growth of eyelashes, excessive hair growth
- sensitivity to light, reduced vision
- tired eyes, eye allergy with increased tear production
- eyelid redness or changes in eyelid color
- skin darkening around the eye
- allergic reaction
- dizziness, headache
- changes in blood pressure
- shortness of breath
- dripping at the back of the throat
- skin itching and inflammation
- decreased heart rate
RARE
- thinning of the eye surface
- broken blood vessel in the eye
- eyelid crusting
- nervousness, hair loss, changes in voice tone
- cough, throat irritation, difficulty in breathing
- skin discoloration
- thirst
- tiredness
- nasal discomfort
- colored urine
- pain in hands and feet
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Eye redness, pain, discomfort, irritation or inflammation:
Close your eyes and relax. Place an ice pack on your eyes or eyelids to relieve your irritation. Avoid straining your eyes by looking at mobile phones, laptops, computers or other light sources. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Dry or itchy eyes:
Close your eyes and relax. Place an ice pack on your eyes or eyelids. Avoid taking any medicine on your own for managing eye dryness. Ask your doctor to prescribe a suitable ophthalmic lubricant that does not affect the effects of this medicine.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the forehead if required. Do not consume too much of alcohol. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume too much of alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Skin itching or inflammation:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY
LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in pregnant women or among women who are trying to become pregnant unless clearly necessary. Therefore, consult your doctor for advice before using this medicine. Women of child-bearing potential should use a suitable contraceptive method to avoid getting pregnant while using LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS.
BREASTFEEDING
LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it could pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before using LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if you experience blurred vision, dizziness, hallucination, nervousness or fatigue after using LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS.
ALLERGY
Do not use LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS if you are allergic to Timolol, Travoprost or other beta-blockers (Ex. betaxolol, levobunolol) or prostaglandin analogs (Ex. latanoprost, bimatoprost).
LUNGS
LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in patients who have or had any respiratory problems (such as asthma, severe chronic obstructive bronchitis or other breathing problems) in the past. Consult your doctor before using LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS.
HEART DISEASE
LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in patients with heart disease (such as heart failure or irregular heartbeat). It should be used with caution among patients who have or had other heart problems such as coronary heart disease or low blood pressure in the past. Consult your doctor before using LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS.
OTHERS
LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS is not recommended for you, if you have:
- severe hay fever (an allergic reaction causing itchy eyes, runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing and sinus pressure)
- cloudy eyes
Before using LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you have:
- blood circulation disorders (such as Raynaud’s disease or Raynaud’s syndrome)
- diabetes
- overactivity of the thyroid gland
- myasthenia gravis (long-term neuromuscular weakness)
- cataract surgery or any upcoming surgery
- an eye inflammation
Use in pediatrics:
LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) due to lack of safety and effectiveness. Consult your doctor before using LUPITROS TZ EYE DROPS
