INTRODUCTION ABOUT ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET

ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET is a combination of Bromhexine, Etophylline and Salbutamol which belong to the groups of medicines called Mucolytic and Bronchodilators. It is used to relieve bronchospasm due to asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults and children 6 years of age and older.

Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption while taking ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET as it may lead to unwanted effects. ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney dysfunction. ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with lung, liver or heart diseases, hypothyroidism, fits or diabetes mellitus.

ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnancy unless necessary. ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET should not be used by breastfeeding women because it may pass through the breast milk.ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in children under 2 years of age as safety and efficacy have not been established.

The safety and efficacy of ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET are not established in elderly patients aged 65 years or older. The most common side effects of taking ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET are nervousness, tremors, sweating, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, heartburn, upset stomach, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, etc. If your symptoms worsen, consult your doctor.

USES OF ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET

  • Relieves bronchospasm due to asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

HOW ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET WORKS

ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET helps to relieve bronchospasm. Bromhexine is a mucolytic that thins and breaks down the phlegm, making it easier to cough out. Bronchodilators such as etophylline and salbutamol work by relaxing the smooth muscles of the bronchial airways and increasing airflow.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicines with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your physician will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET

COMMON

  • nervousness, tremors
  • sweating
  • nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, heartburn, upset stomach
  • dizziness, headache, drowsiness
  • muscle cramps
  • difficulty in sleeping, agitation, anxiety or tremors
  • irregular heartbeat or palpitations
  • difficulty in passing urine
  • increased uric acid levels in the blood, causing painful and swollen joints
  • fits
  • rash, urticaria or itchy skin
  • bronchial hypersecretion

UNCOMMON

  • increased blood sugar levels

RARE

Stop taking ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • allergic reaction such as pale or red patches with severe itchy rashes, swelling of the face, eyelids, lips, throat or tongue causing difficulty breathing or wheeziness, low blood pressure leading to collapse or faint (anaphylactic shock)
  • chest pain, jaw or shoulder pain accompanied by shortness of breath, nausea and vomiting
  • difficulty breathing when lying flat, wheezing, clammy skin
  • irregular heartbeat
  • low blood potassium causing fatigue, muscle spasms
  • increased lactic acid in the body causing stomach pain, weakness and rapid breathing

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea, vomiting:

Take this medicine with food or just after food. Eat simple meals and avoid oily or spicy foods. Contact your doctor if nausea and vomiting do not improve.

Dizziness or drowsiness:

Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume alcohol, as it increases dizziness. Contact your doctor if your dizziness or drowsiness does not improve.

Headache:

Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids, such as water or electrolytes and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if required. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if your headache worsens.

PREGNANCY

ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnancy unless considered necessary. Contact your doctor before taking.

BREASTFEEDING

ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Contact your doctor before taking.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Take caution while driving or operating machines while taking ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET.

ALCOHOL

Avoid alcohol consumption while taking ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET as it may lead to unwanted effects.

KIDNEY

ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney dysfunction. Contact your doctor before taking it.

LIVER

ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver dysfunction. Contact your doctor before taking it.

ALLERGY

Do not use ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET if you are allergic to bromhexine, etophylline or theophylline, aminophylline and salbutamol or other ingredients of the medicine.

LUNGS

ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with lung diseases. Contact your doctor before taking it.

HEART DISEASE

ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET should be used with caution in patients with irregular heart rhythm or chest pain, high blood pressure and other heart diseases. Contact your doctor before taking it.

OTHERS

ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:

  • thyrotoxicosis
  • porphyria
  • malignant ciliary syndrome

Before taking ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:

  • uncontrolled juvenile diabetes mellitus
  • hyperthyroidism
  • fits
  • worsening of breathlessness or cough
  • stomach or intestinal ulcers
  • hypothyroidism
  • cystic fibrosis
  • fever
  • viral infections
  • enlarged prostate gland
  • surgery

Use in Paediatrics:

ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use in children under 2 years of age as safety and efficacy are not established. Contact your doctor before taking it.

Use in Geriatrics:

The safety and efficacy of ALBUTAMOL PLUS TABLET are not established in elderly patients aged 65 years or above. Contact your doctor before taking it.
