Introduction About ANAFORTAN N TABLET

ANAFORTAN N TABLET is a combination of Camylofin and Nimesulide which belongs to the group of medicines called Anticholinergic and Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) respectively. It is used in the management of renal colic (pain when stone gets stuck in the urinary tract causing painful, bloody or cloudy urination), biliary colic (pain in the abdomen due to obstruction by stones in bile duct), intestinal colic (cramp like pain in the small or large intestine) and dysmenorrhea (period or menstrual cramps around the abdomen, hips, lower back).

Having a fiber rich diet, keeping yourself hydrated, quitting smoking and alcohol will help in the management process.

Before taking ANAFORTAN N TABLET inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, heart, prostate gland, thyroid gland, lung problems, stomach ulcers, bleeding disorder, bowel problems, having a surgery, glaucoma and fever.

Avoid consumption of alcohol during this management. ANAFORTAN N TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor for advice.

ANAFORTAN N TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age. It should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age.

The most common side effects of taking ANAFORTAN N TABLET are nausea, vomiting, constipation, blurred vision and dry mouth. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not improve.

It is used to manage:

  • Renal, biliary colic and intestinal colic
  • Period cramps

How ANAFORTAN N TABLET Works

ANAFORTAN N TABLET works by relieving muscle cramps and pain in which Camylofin relaxes the muscles in the stomach and intestine stopping sudden muscle contractions (spasms) and Nimesulide inhibits the enzyme cyclo-oxygenase and there by inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) and pain.

How to use ANAFORTAN N TABLET

Take ANAFORTAN N TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Side Effects Of ANAFORTAN N TABLET

Common

Stop taking ANAFORTAN N TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • anorexia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, dark urine (abnormal liver function)
  • breathlessness, difficulty breathing when lying down, swelling of the feet or legs (signs of heart failure)
  • signs of bleeding and ulcer in stomach, intestine

How To Manage Side Effects

Nausea or Vomiting:

Take this medicine with meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. If the symptom does not show improvement, consult your doctor.

Constipation:

Drink more fluids and high fiber food with regular exercise. If the symptom does not show improvement, consult your doctor.

Diarrhea:

Drink lots of water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. If the symptom does not show improvement, consult your doctor.

Warning & Precautions

Pregnancy

ANAFORTAN N TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women (more than 6 months) or women who are planning to become pregnant. ANAFORTAN N TABLET should be used with caution in first 6 months of pregnancy. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Breastfeeding

ANAFORTAN N TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Driving and Using Machines

Do not drive or use machines while taking ANAFORTAN N TABLET as it may cause dizziness, drowsiness and visual disturbances.

Alcohol

Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ANAFORTAN N TABLET as it can worsen your side effects like drowsiness, liver damage.

Kidney

ANAFORTAN N TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney disease. ANAFORTAN N TABLET should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking.

Liver

ANAFORTAN N TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver disease. ANAFORTAN N TABLET should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking.

Allergy

Do not take ANAFORTAN N TABLET if you are allergic to Camylofin or Nimesulide or any other ingredients of this medicine.

Lungs

ANAFORTAN N TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with bronchospasm, rhinitis. ANAFORTAN N TABLET should be used with caution in patients with obstructive airway disease and other lung disease. Consult your doctor before taking.

Heart Disease

ANAFORTAN N TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with heart failure, stroke, mechanical stenosis. ANAFORTAN N TABLET should be used with caution in patients having cardiac surgery. Consult your doctor before taking.

Others

ANAFORTAN N TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

  • have glaucoma
  • have drug addiction
  • have gastric-duodenal ulcer, bleeding from stomach or bowel
  • have/had stroke
  • are suffering from fever
  • have cerebrovascular bleeding, bleeding disorder, coagulation disorder
  • have prostatic hypertrophy
  • have problems with blood circulation

Before taking ANAFORTAN N TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

  • have thyroid gland problem
  • have ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease
  • have fever
  • are intolerant to certain sugars

Use in Pediatrics:

ANAFORTAN N TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking.

Use in Geriatrics:

ANAFORTAN N TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age as they are susceptible to the side effects of this medicine. Dose will be adjusted by the doctor. Consult your doctor before taking.

Interactions

A. Drug – Drug interactions:

Before taking ANAFORTAN N TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

  • warfarin (used to manage clotting problems)
  • other analgesics or NSAIDs (Ex. paracetamol, ibuprofen)
  • antidepressants (Ex. amitriptyline, imipramine, desipramine and lithium)
  • diuretics (used to manage heart failure or blood pressure)
  • anticancer agent (Ex. methotrexate)
  • medications that suppress the immune system (Ex. tacrolimus, ciclosporin)
  • medicine used to manage heart rhythm problems (Ex. quinidine)
  • medicine used to manage movement disorders (Ex. amantadine)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of ANAFORTAN N TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting and epigastric pain.
