Introduction About ASCABIOL EMULSION
ASCABIOL EMULSION contains Cetrimide and Gamma benzene hexachloride, which belong to the group of medicines called Antiseptics and Antiparasitic drugs, respectively. It is used for the management of scabies (skin infection with itchy skin rashes caused by mites), pediculosis (infestation of scalp caused by eggs, larvae, or adults of lice), and lice.
It is advised to avoid person-to-person contact and sharing of clothes and utensils with infected persons to avoid the risk of spreading of scabies and lice. It is not recommended to use ASCABIOL EMULSION if you have fits, allergies to any of its ingredients, open, broken, or cranky skin. Before using ASCABIOL EMULSION, inform your doctor if you have HIV or AIDS, have a history of fits or conditions like a head injury, tumour in your brain or spinal cord, cirrhosis of the liver, or are heavy alcohol drinkers.
ASCABIOL EMULSION is not recommended to be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless it is clearly necessary. Do not use ASCABIOL EMULSION to manage a premature infant, young baby, or elderly patient. The most common side effects of using ASCABIOL EMULSION include tingling, itching, burning in the skin, and skin rashes. Consult a doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.

It is used to manage:
- Scabies (skin infection with itchy skin rashes caused by mites)
- Pediculosis (infestation of the scalp caused by eggs, larvae, or adults of lice)

How ASCABIOL EMULSION Works
ASCABIOL EMULSION contains cetrimide and Gamma benzene hexachloride. Cetrimide is an antiseptic agent that kills disease-causing bacteria. Gamma benzene hexachloride is an insecticide that kills insects by damaging the brains of mites.
How to use ASCABIOL EMULSION
Apply ASCABIOL EMULSION as advised by your physician. It is for external use only. Shake well before use. Wash your hands before applying ASCABIOL EMULSION. Take adequate amounts of medicine and apply on affected areas (apply on the entire body in cases of scabies). Wash off completely with warm water after 8–12 hours.
Read the instructions within the label before using the medicine. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, and mouth. Avoid making your skin too oily by applying creams while using ASCABIOL EMULSION. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.

How To Manage Side Effects

Skin rash Or Itching
Apply a cool compress or wet cloth over the burned area. Apply moisturizers if required. Contact the doctor if it is not subsiding.

Breastfeeding

ASCABIOL EMULSION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. If you use ASCABIOL EMULSION, pump your breast milk and throw away the milk for at least 24 hours after using the medicine.
During this time, feed your baby formula or breast milk you stored before you used this medicine. Consult a doctor before using it.

Liver

- Antipsychotics (medicines used to manage mental disorders) Ex. chlorpromazine, haloperidol)
- Antidepressants (medicines used to manage depression) Ex. citalopram, escitalopram)
- Theophylline (medicine used to manage wheezing and shortness of breath)
- Cyclosporin, mycophenolate mofetil, and tacrolimus capsules (medicines used to manage transplant rejection)
- Penicillin, imipenem, and quinolone antibiotics (medicines used to manage bacterial infection)
- Chloroquine sulfate (medicine used to manage malaria)
- Pyrimethamine (medicine used to manage a parasitic infection called toxoplasmosis)
- Isoniazid (medicine used to manage tuberculosis)
- Meperidine (medicine used to relieve moderate to severe pain)
- Methocarbamol (medicine used to relieve musculo-skeletal pain)
- Centrally active anticholinesterases (Ex. rivastigmine, donepezil)
- Radiographic contrast agents (Ex. iodine, barium sulfate)
Overdosage:
