Introduction About ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE
ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE is used in the management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It can also be used to manage inflammation of the airways (such as bronchitis). It contains Acebrophylline which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-asthmatic agents.
Before taking ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have fits, stomach ulcers, viral infections, hypertension or hyperthyroidism as a precaution. It is not recommended for use in pregnant women. It should be used in breastfeeding women only if it is considered necessary by the physician.
The most common side effects are epigastric pain, stomach discomfort, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, diarrhea and constipation. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects trouble you.

How ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE Works
ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE blocks the release of certain chemicals (such as phosphodiesterase) in the respiratory tract that triggers airway inflammation, swelling and narrowing. As a result, it widens the airways and reduces airway inflammation. It also loosens the mucus accumulated in the airways which allows the air to pass through more freely through the airways and makes breathing easier.
How to use ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE
- Take the medicine as advised by your physician
- Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine
- Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition
- Do not stop taking ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE once your symptoms subside without consulting your doctor

Driving and Using Machines
Use with Caution
ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE usually does not affect your ability to drive or operate any machinery. However, do not drive or handle any heavy tools or machines if you feel dizzy or drowsy after taking the medicine.
Kidney

ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney problems. It should be used with caution in patients with other kidney problems.
Liver

ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems. It should be used with caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction.
Allergy
Contraindicated
Do not take ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE if you are allergic to Acebrophylline or to any other ingredients o this medicine.
Heart Disease

ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients suffering from myocardial infarction or arrythmias. It should be used with caution in patients with heart failure or any other heart problems. Â
Use In Pediatrics
Contraindicated
ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years).
Use In Geriatrics
Use with Caution
ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in the elderly patients.
Others
ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use if you:
- have hypotension (low blood pressure)
- have fluid and electrolyte imbalance
Before taking ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you:
- have any viral infections
- have an over-active thyroid gland
- have hypertension (high blood pressure)
- have ulcers in the stomach and/or intestines
- have fits (seizures)
Interactions
Before taking ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- Anti-gout agents (Ex. allopurinol)
- H2 blockers (Ex. cimetidine)
- Antibiotics (Ex. ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, doxycycline, amoxicillin)
- Corticosteroids (Ex. prednisolone)
- Calcium channel blockers (Ex. diltiazem, verapamil)
- Diuretics (Ex. frusemide)
- Adrenergic and dopaminergic cardiac stimulants (Ex. isoprenaline)
- Oral contraceptives (Ex. ethinylestradiol)
- Benzimidazoles (Ex. thiabendazole)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took more of ASCOVENT 100MG CAPSULE, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, upper stomach pain, restlessness, fits, fast heart rate and hyperactivity.
