Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop is used to treat bacterial eye and ear infections. An ear infection occurs when bacteria invade the middle or outer ear, causing pain and inflammation. Bacterial eye infection occurs when pathogenic bacteria enter any portion of the eye, including the eyeball, conjunctiva, and cornea.

You are advised to use Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you. Sometimes, you may experience certain common side effects, such as discomfort, irritation, and stinging sensation. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Do not use Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop if you are allergic to any of its components. Talk to your doctor if the irritation persists despite using Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop for a week or if it worsens. Consult your doctor before using Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Please do not touch the tip of the dropper to the eye/ear or surrounding areas as it may contaminate the contents. Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop should be used in children only if prescribed by the doctor.

Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop is used in the treatment of bacterial eye and ear infections. The detailed uses of Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop are as follows:

Treats Eye Infections: Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop is effective in treating bacterial conjunctivitis and other eye infections.
Reduces Inflammation: The drops may be able to lessen the pain and swelling caused by infections in the ears and eyes.
Reduces ocular Irritation: The drops can help lessen ocular irritation caused by bacterial infections and redness.
Treats Ear Infections: Swimmer’s ear and other bacterial infections of the outer ear can be treated with Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop.

Directions for Use

• Follow your doctor’s instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication. • For eye use: Tilt your head back and gently pull your lower eyelid downwards and outwards to form a pouch. Instil the advised number of drops into the pouch and close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. • For ear use: Tilt your head to the side and gently instil the advised number of drops into the ear. Keep your head tilted for a minute to allow the drops to soak in. • Do not touch the dropper with your bare hands to prevent contamination.

Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop contains Ciprofloxacin, which has bactericidal activity. It works by suppressing the enzyme DNA gyrase, which is essential for bacterial DNA synthesis. As a result, Ciplox Eye/Ear Drop inhibits bacterial development and thereby treats external ocular infection of the eye, chronic suppurative otitis media, external otitis, malignant otitis externa and perioperatively in chronic otitis media.
