Istamet 50/500mg Tablet is a combination medication used to manage Type 2 Diabetes mellitus. It contains Sitagliptin (50mg) and Metformin (500mg), which help control blood sugar levels effectively.

Take Istamet 50/500 as directed by your doctor. It is usually taken with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

Key Composition

Istamet 50/500 Tablet contains two active ingredients:

Sitagliptin (50 mg) – A DPP-4 (Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4) inhibitor that helps increase insulin production and reduce glucose production in the liver

How ISTAMET 50/500MG TABLET Works

Istamet 50/500 contains two medicines Metformin and Sitagliptin. Metformin makes the body more sensitive to insulin. This helps our body cells utilize more of the circulating blood glucose. Additionally, it can stop glucose production by the liver and reduce its absorption in the body. Sitagliptin inhibits DPP-4 which leads to increased levels of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide(GIP), decreased levels of glucagon, and a stronger insulin response to glucose.

How to take Istamet 50/500:

Recommended Dosage for Istamet 50/500:

Starting Dose: Istamet 50/500 is usually taken once or twice daily with meals to reduce the risk of stomach upset

Maintenance Dose: Based on blood sugar control, the doctor may increase the dose gradually to a maximum of 100 mg Sitagliptin + 2000 mg Metformin per day (divided into 2 doses)
