Livolysin Syrup contains Lysine, Papain, Sodium Benzoate, Sorbitol, and Tricholine Citrate. Cold sores can be prevented and treated with lysine (caused by the virus called herpes simplex labialis). Papain, commonly known as papaya proteinase I, is a cysteine protease enzyme that possesses proteolytic activity and is found in papaya (means breaks peptide bonds of proteins). Sodium benzoate is a flavouring and antibacterial preservative. Glucitol, or sorbitol, is a sugar alcohol that has a laxative effect. It works by holding fluid in the colon, which aids in increased intestinal muscle action. Adults with hepatic problems are treated with tricholine citrate. Tricholine citrate has a lipotropic effect on hepatocytes, can alleviate asthma symptoms, and lowers pro-inflammatory and inflammatory mediators in the leucotriene pathway.
