INTRODUCTION ABOUT PICLIN KID SYRUP
PICLIN KID SYRUP contains Sodium picosulfate which belongs to the group of medicines called Laxatives. It is used for short-term relief of functional constipation. Constipation is defined as fewer than three bowel movements a week, stools that are hard, dry, lumpy, difficult, or painful to pass.
Your doctor might advise you to take a rich fibre diet, have more fluid intake, and do regular exercise. PICLIN KID SYRUP is not recommended for use in patients with severe dehydration, ileus, gastrointestinal obstruction, gastrointestinal ulceration, or perforation.
Avoid the consumption of alcohol during management with this medicine. It is also not recommended if you have appendicitis, acute inflammatory bowel diseases, or severe abdominal pain associated with nausea and vomiting.
PICLIN KID SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with liver disease or epilepsy. It should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women. PICLIN KID SYRUP is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age.
PICLIN KID SYRUP should be used with caution in elderly patients. The most common side effects of taking PICLIN KID SYRUP are diarrhoea, abdominal pain, cramps, or discomfort. Do consult your physician if any of the side effects worsen.

HOW PICLIN KID SYRUP WORKS
PICLIN KID SYRUP works by increasing the mucosa of the large intestine and rectum. Which in turn increases its motility (movement), accumulation of water, hence softening the stool and stimulating defecation (emptying of the bowel).
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take PICLIN KID SYRUP as advised by your doctor. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of medicine depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
SIDE EFFECTS OF PICLIN KID SYRUP
COMMON
- diarrhoea
- abdominal pain, cramps or discomfort
UNCOMMON
- nausea
- vomiting
- dizziness
RARE
Stop taking PICLIN KID SYRUP and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- severe allergic reaction (symptoms include rash, swelling of skin, mouth, face leading to swallowing or breathing difficulties)
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take them frequently. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor if the stomach pain doesn’t improve.
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Don’t take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if diarrhoea worsens.

PREGNANCY
PICLIN KID SYRUP should be used with caution in pregnancy or women planning to have a baby unless. Contact your doctor before taking it.

BREASTFEEDING
PICLIN KID SYRUP should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Contact your doctor before taking PICLIN KID SYRUP.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or use machines while taking PICLIN KID SYRUP as you may feel dizzy. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALCOHOL
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking PICLIN KID SYRUP.

LIVER
PICLIN KID SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Contact your doctor before taking.

ALLERGY
Do not take PICLIN KID SYRUP if you are allergic to Sodium picosulfate or any other ingredients of this medicine.
OTHERS
PICLIN KID SYRUP is not recommended for use if you have:
- severe dehydration
- ileus (bowel condition causing a blockage in the intestine)
- gastrointestinal obstruction, ulceration or perforation
- acute abdominal surgical conditions including appendicitis
- acute inflammatory bowel diseases
- severe abdominal pain associated with nausea and vomiting
Before taking PICLIN KID SYRUP tell your doctor if you have:
- epilepsy
Use in Paediatrics:
PICLIN KID SYRUP is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. Contact your doctor before taking.
Use in Geriatrics:
PICLIN KID SYRUP should be used with caution in elderly patients due to increased susceptibility to the effects of dehydration. Contact your doctor before taking.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug Interactions:
Before taking PICLIN KID SYRUP, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- diuretics (medicines used to increase urine output) Ex. bendrofluazide, furosemide
- corticosteroids (medicines used to manage inflammatory conditions) Ex. prednisolone
- cardiac glycosides (used to manage heart disorders) Ex. digoxin
- antibiotics (used to manage infections) Ex. amoxicillin
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of PICLIN KID SYRUP, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are diarrhea, abdominal cramps and a clinically significant loss of potassium and other electrolytes.
