INTRODUCTION ABOUT RCIFAX 200MG TABLET

RCIFAX 200MG TABLET contains Rifaximin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used in adults to manage traveller´s diarrhoea. Traveller´s diarrhoea is a common travel-related illness of digestive tract that is commonly caused by eating contaminated food or by drinking contaminated water while travelling. As a result, it leads to severe stomach cramps and diarrhea (loose stools).

Rifaximin is an intestinal antibiotic. It kills the susceptible bacteria that causes infection by blocking the actions of certain enzymes in the bacteria which is required for its survival. As a result, it stops the growth and multiplication of the harmful bacteria in the gut and controls diarrhea.

Take RCIFAX 200MG TABLET for the stipulated duration instructed by your doctor even if you feel better during the midway of the therapy. Inform your doctor if you can’t notice any improvement in your condition or if you feel worse after 3 days of therapy.

RCIFAX 200MG TABLET should not be used in patients having bloody diarrhea or diarrhea accompanied by fever and in patients passing unformed (soft or liquid) stools for more than 8 times a day. It is also not suitable for use in patients having any stomach problems (such as constipation, vomiting, or stomach pain due to blockage in the gut).

Inform your doctor before taking RCIFAX 200MG TABLET if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or breastfeeding as a precaution. RCIFAX 200MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in children (aged below 18 years).

RCIFAX 200MG TABLET may cause pink or reddish discoloration of urine. This is usually harmless and disappears after discontinuation of the therapy. However, consult your doctor if it bothers you.

Other most common side effects of taking RCIFAX 200MG TABLET are headache, flatulence, stomach pain, constipation, urge to empty bowels and fever. Contact your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.
