INTRODUCTION ABOUT RUTOHEAL D TABLET

RUTOHEAL D TABLET is a combination of Bromelain, Rutoside, Trypsin and Diclofenac which belongs to the group of medicines called Proteases, Flavonoids, Proteolytic enzymes and Analgesics respectively. It is used in the management of pain and inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, sports injuries, tooth extraction. RUTOHEAL D TABLET is also used to manage post-surgical inflammation and helps in wound healing and has an anti-scarring effect.

Prior to starting the management with RUTOHEAL D TABLET, your doctor might want you to take up several diagnostic tests to understand the existing condition.

RUTOHEAL D TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having kidney or liver disorders, high blood pressure, bleeding or clotting disorders, blood in vomiting or urine and infection. It should be taken with caution in patients who have heart disease.

RUTOHEAL D TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women. There is no data on the use of RUTOHEAL D TABLET in children and elderly patients hence, caution must be exercised while taking this medicine. Always, consult with your doctor before taking it.

The most common side effects of taking RUTOHEAL D TABLET are nausea, loss of appetite, headache, diarrhoea and flatulence. Consult with your doctor if any of these worsen or doesn’t improve.

HOW RUTOHEAL D TABLET WORKS

RUTOHEAL D TABLET helps in managing pain and inflammation associated with various conditions where bromelain is a protease enzyme which decreases inflammation by inhibiting the substances that are responsible for it called proinflammatory prostaglandins. It also influences blood clotting by increasing the activity of a protein called fibrinogen. Rutoside is a flavonoid that works by enhancing the strength of blood vessels and decreases their ability to break down. Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug which acts by stopping the release of certain chemicals called prostaglandins which is responsible for the occurrence of pain and inflammation.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take RUTOHEAL D TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of RUTOHEAL D TABLET for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF RUTOHEAL D TABLET

COMMON

  • headache, dizziness
  • vertigo, sickness
  • nausea
  • flatulence, diarrhoea
  • loss of appetite
  • skin rash

RARE

  • sleepiness
  • skin spots
  • oedema (swelling due to fluid build up)

Stop taking RUTOHEAL D TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience the following side effects:

  • mild cramping and tenderness of the abdomen followed by rectal bleeding or bloody diarrhoea
  • stomach or duodenal ulcer, bleeding from the stomach or intestine, stomach pain or other abnormal stomach symptoms
  • passing blood in your faeces, vomiting blood or dark particles that look like coffee grounds
  • indigestion or heartburn
  • allergic reactions (signs include sudden wheeziness, difficulty in breathing, swelling of the face, lips, hands or fingers, skin rash, itching, bruising, painful red areas, peeling or blistering)
  • chest pain (sign of a potentially serious allergic reaction called Kounis syndrome)

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Diarrhea

Drink lot of fluids such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid taking any medicine on your own for managing diarrhea. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Headache

Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the forehead if required. Do not consume too much of alcohol. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Nausea And Vomiting

Try to take RUTOHEAL D TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich, fried or spicy foods. Do not lie down or sleep immediately after eating. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

PREGNANCY

BREASTFEEDING

Contraindicated

RUTOHEAL D TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Use with Caution

Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience dizziness or sleepiness. Consult your doctor before taking it.

ALCOHOL

Contraindicated

Avoid the use of alcohol with RUTOHEAL D TABLET as it can increase the risk of gastric irritation.

KIDNEY

Contraindicated

RUTOHEAL D TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having kidney disorders. Consult your doctor before taking it.

LIVER

Contraindicated

RUTOHEAL D TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having liver disorders. Consult your doctor before taking it.

ALLERGY

Contraindicated

Do not take RUTOHEAL D TABLET if you are allergic to Bromelain, Rutoside, Trypsin and Diclofenac.

HEART DISEASE

Use with Caution

USE IN GERIATRICS

OTHERS

RUTOHEAL D TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

  • have high blood pressure
  • have bleeding or clotting disorders
  • have blood in vomiting or urine
  • have infection

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug – Drug Interactions:

Before taking RUTOHEAL D TABLET inform to your doctor, if you are taking any of these medicines:

  • cardiac glycosides such as digoxin (used to manage heart problems), antihypertensives such as ramipril (used to manage high blood pressure)
  • lithium (used to manage bipolar disorder)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of RUTOHEAL D TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
