Introduction About ZOCEF 500MG TABLET
ZOCEF 500MG TABLET is an antibiotic medicine used in the management of various bacterial infections such as infections of the respiratory tract, throat infections, skin infections, ear infections, sinus infections, lung infections and urinary tract infections. It can also be used in the management of Lyme disease at its early stages.
It contains a medicine called Cefuroxime which is a powerful antibiotic agent that works by killing the susceptible organism that causes infection.
Take ZOCEF 500MG TABLET as directed by your physician. It can be taken after meals for better absorption. Usually, it is prescribed for 7-10 days to attain better control on infection. Therefore, do not stop taking this medicine or skip doses, as it may make this medicine less effective.
Before taking ZOCEF 500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you are allergic to any antibiotics, previously experienced anaemia after taking antibiotics, scheduled for any blood tests, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
The most common side effects of taking this medicine are headache, dizziness, diarrhoea and feeling sick. Consult your doctor immediately if any of the above symptoms worsen.

How ZOCEF 500MG TABLET Works
ZOCEF 500MG TABLET contains cefuroxime which is a second-generation cephalosporin that interferes with the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall by binding to specific binding proteins located inside the bacterial cell wall. This leads to breaking down the cell wall of the bacteria and reducing its stability, thus causing cell damage, and eventually causing bacterial elimination. Â
How to use ZOCEF 500MG TABLET
- Take ZOCEF 500MG TABLET as advised by your physician. It can be taken after meals for better absorption
- Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dosages
- Do not stop taking or skip doses of ZOCEF 500MG TABLET to achieve better control over infection
- Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of infection.
Side Effects Of ZOCEF 500MG TABLET
Common Side Effects of ZOCEF 500MG TABLET:
- fungal infection
- headache, dizziness

- nausea, stomach pain
- increased type of white blood cells (eosinophilia)
- increase in liver enzyme
- skin rashes
- increased number of blood platelets

Breastfeeding

Studies have shown that Cefuroxime may pass through the breast milk. Therefore, ZOCEF 500MG TABLET should be used in breastfeeding women only under careful medical supervision. Consult your doctor for advice.
Driving and Using Machines
