Introduction About ZYLE 100MG TABLET
ZYLE 100MG TABLET contains Allopurinol which belongs to a group of medicines called Enzyme inhibitors. It is used to gout, uric acid nephropathy, hyperuricemia, uric acid renal calculi and calcium oxalate renal calculi. Gout is a form of arthritis due to high levels of uric acid in the body and this uric acid builds up in the joints and tendons as crystals causing severe pain, redness and tenderness in joints.
Before taking ZYLE 100MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, high blood pressure or heart problems, thyroid, cancer or Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, gout attack, lactose or galactose intolerance and glucose-galactose malabsorption. ZYLE 100MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women and it is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it passes through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.
ZYLE 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children below children under 15 years of age except in some types of cancer such as leukaemia and certain enzyme disorders such as Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. ZYLE 100MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65years of age. Consult your doctor before taking it. The most common side effects of taking ZYLE 100MG TABLET are skin rash and increased levels of thyroid stimulation hormone in blood. Consult with your doctor if any of these worsens or doesn’t improve.
Uses Of ZYLE 100MG TABLET
It is used to manage:
- gout
- uric acid nephropathy
- hyperuricemia
- uric acid renal calculi (prophylaxis)
- calcium oxalate renal calculi (prophylaxis)
How ZYLE 100MG TABLET Works
ZYLE 100MG TABLET works by stopping the enzyme (xanthine oxidase) which is responsible for production of uric acid. Thus lowering the levels of uric acid in blood and urine and decreases the incidence of gout symptoms.
How to use ZYLE 100MG TABLET
Take ZYLE 100MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicines with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of ZYLE 100MG TABLET
Common
- skin rash
- increased thyroid-stimulating hormone levels in the blood
Uncommon
- nausea, vomiting
- diarrhoea
- abdominal pain
Rare
- liver problems (liver inflammation, jaundice)
Stop taking ZYLE 100MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- allergic reaction symptoms such as flaking skin, boils or sore lips and mouth, sudden wheeziness, fluttering or tightness in the chest and collapse
- serious hypersensitivity reactions characterized by fever, joint pain, abnormalities in blood, bleeding in the lips, mouth, eyes, nose or genitals, ulcers of the mouth, throat, nose, genitals, conjunctivitis (red and swollen eyes), widespread blisters or peeling
How To Manage Side Effects
Diarrhea
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhea. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Nausea And Vomiting
Try to take this medicine with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.
Skin rash Or Itching
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use moisturizer to soothe and hydrate the affected area. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.
Stomach Pain
Rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Do not self-manage and contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

ZYLE 100MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking.
Liver

ZYLE 100MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking.
Allergy
Contraindicated
Do not take ZYLE 100MG TABLET if you are allergic to Allopurinol or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Heart Disease

ZYLE 100MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart problems. Consult your doctor before taking.
Use In Pediatrics
Contraindicated
ZYLE 100MG TABLET is not recommended in children and adolescents below 15 years of age except in some types of cancer (leukaemia) and certain enzyme disorders such as Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. Consult with your child’s doctor before giving it to your child.
Use In Geriatrics
Use with Caution
ZYLE 100MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years). Consult your doctor before taking.
Others
Before taking ZYLE 100MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have:
- Lesch-Nyhan syndrome
- thyroid problems
- high blood pressure
- an acute attack of gout
- cancer (especially leukaemia)
- intolerance to some sugars
