INTRODUCTION
VACTYPH contains Typhoid vaccine which belongs to the group of medicines called Bacterial vaccines. It is used to prevent typhoid fever both in the adults and in the children (aged 6 months or above). Typhoid is a bacterial infection which is characterized by prolonged high fever, sore throat, cough and altered behaviour.
Typhoid vaccine offers immunity against typhoid fever by causing a mild infection. It stimulates our body to produce protective antibodies against the bacteria that causes typhoid.Â
VACTYPH cannot manage any infections (such as typhoid fever, parathyroid fever, or food poisoning) that has been already developed in the body. It can only be used to protect yourself from getting infected before exposing yourself to the susceptible bacteria.
Do not receive VACTYPH if you or your child are allergic to any of its ingredients or has a very high fever. You must also inform your doctor if you or your child has a very weak immune system (due to any severe infections) or any type of blood disorders (haemophilia).
Before receiving VACTYPH, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or breastfeeding. VACTYPH is generally safe and does not cause any side effects. However, it may cause few minor side effects like pain, redness and swelling at the site of injection, mild fever, headache or muscle pain. These side effects are usually temporary and disappears within a few days. However, consult your doctor if they worsen.
USES OF VACTYPH
- Used to protect against typhoid fever
HOW VACTYPH WORKS
VACTYPH offers immunity against typhoid by causing a mild infection. It contains inactivated or weak bacteria (less potential) that causes typhoid. Following administration, these weak or inactivated bacteria enters the blood and stimulates our body to release protective antibodies against them. As these bacteria are totally weak, our body easily kills them and offers protection against further infection.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
VACTYPH will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the muscles (intramuscularly) or under the skin (subcutaneously).
