Introduction About ADMENTA 10MG TABLET
ADMENTA 10MG TABLET contains Memantine which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-dementia drugs. It is used to manage moderate to severe Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease is a neurodegenerative disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions in an individual. It is caused due to formation and accumulation of certain toxic proteins in the brain that destroys brain cells. It can be characterized by loss of memory and forgetfulness of day-to-day activities.
Memantine is a N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist. It acts by blocking the over activation of certain chemicals (glutamate and beta-amyloid peptide) in the brain that causes Alzheimer’s disease. It can also block the activity of other chemical messengers (like serotonin and acetylcholine) which are responsible for affecting thoughts, memory and mental state.
Before taking ADMENTA 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems. ADMENTA 10MG TABLET should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women. It is also not suitable for use in children aged below 18 years. It should be used with caution in the elderly patients.

How to use ADMENTA 10MG TABLET
Take ADMENTA 10MG TABLET as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without meals. Â Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. How To Manage Side Effects
Headache: Â
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.

A. Drug-Drug interactions
Before taking ADMENTA 10MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- amantadine (a medicine used to manage viral infections or Parkinson’s disease)
- ketamine (a medicine used as an anesthetic)
- dextromethorphan (a medicine used to manage cough)
- medicine used to manage muscle spasms or spasticity (Ex. dantrolene, baclofen)
- medicine used to manage stomach ulcers (Ex. cimetidine, ranitidine)
- medicine used to manage abnormal heart rhythm (Ex. quinidine, procainamide, amiodarone, flecainide)
- medicine used to manage malaria (Ex. quinine)
- medicine used to increase urine output (Ex. hydrochlorothiazide)
- anticholinergics (used to manage movement disorders or intestinal cramps) such as atropine, scopolamine, glycopyrrolate
- medicine used to manage epilepsy (Ex. carbamazepine, gabapentin)

B. Drug – Food interactions

Overdosage
If you or anyone else accidentally took more ADMENTA 10MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose might include feeling tired, slow heart rate, confusion, dizziness, increased blood pressure, feeling faint, psychosis, feeling agitated, restless or sleepy, slowed movement, unsteady movements, hallucinations, sensation of spinning and vomiting.
