Introduction About ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET
ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET is used in adults to manage type 2 diabetes which helps to control the blood sugar levels when diet and exercise becomes insufficient to control the disease. It contains Vildagliptin which belongs to group of medicines called Oral Anti-diabetics.
Take ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET as advised by your physician. Do not crush or chew ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water.
Along management with ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET, your doctor might advise you to follow the diet and/or exercise which is beneficial. Avoid consumption of alcohol because it might lead to low blood glucose levels. Before taking ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET, inform your doctor if you are on dialysis or have diabetic ketoacidosis (serious complication of diabetes), pancreatic disease, heart failure and liver or kidney disease.
ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women, which is also not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). It should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above).
The side effects of taking ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET are dizziness, headache, joint pain and constipation.

ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET controls blood glucose level by acting on the pancreas to produce more insulin and less glucagon which leads to low production of blood sugar levels resulting in controlled blood glucose levels.

- Take ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET as advised by your physician.
- Do not crush or chew ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET.
- Swallow the medicine with a glass of water.

Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines: Â
- Oral antidiabetics (medicine used to manage type 2 diabetes) Ex. sulphonylureas such as gliclazide, glipizide
- Digoxin (used to manage heart failure)Â Â
- Warfarin (used to manage blood clot)
- Cardiac drugs (such as captopril, enalapril, fosinopril)
- Simvastatin (used to reduce high cholesterol levels) Â
- Thiazides or other diuretics (medicines used to manage high blood pressure) Ex. chlorothiazide, chlorthalidone, hydrochlorothiazide
- Corticosteroids (used to manage inflammation) Ex. prednisolone
- Certain medicines affecting nervous system such as antidepressants Ex. clomipramine, amitriptyline
- Thyroid medicines (used to lower thyroid levels) Ex. levothyroxine
Over dosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Overdosage symptoms of ABVIDA SR 100 TABLET are muscle pain, mild and transient paraesthesia (burning and prickling sensation in hands and legs), fever, oedema (swelling in arms and legs) and laboratory abnormalities such as transient increase in lipase levels, increases in creatine phosphokinase (CPK), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), C-reactive protein (CRP) and myoglobin levels.  Â
