INTRODUCTION
DANAZOLE
100MG contains Testosterone which is a natural male sex hormone known
as an androgen. It is produced in body by both the men and women. It is
used in testosterone replacement therapy for adult men to manage the
various health problems such as impotence, infertility, low sex drive,
tiredness, depressive moods, bone loss caused by low hormone levels
caused by a lack of testosterone (male hypogonadism). It increases the
blood testosterone concentrations to normal levels which helps to also
restore the man’s sex drive and expression of male sex characteristics
(e.g. deep voice, body hair).
The recommended dose is 3–4 dose
daily during the first 2–3 weeks, followed by a gradual decrease to 1–3
dose daily or as directed by physician. Swallow the medicines whole
without chewing, using some water or other fluid. The safety and
efficacy of this medicine has not been determined in the children and
adolescents. It is not for use in women. Tell your doctor, if you are
taking or recently taken or might take any other medicines. The most
common side effects include increase in red blood cell count, percentage
of red blood cells in blood and haemoglobin which can be identified by
periodic blood tests and weight gain.

HOW DANAZOLE 100MG WORKS
DANAZOLE
100MG increases the blood testosterone concentrations to normal levels

SIDE EFFECTS OF DANAZOLE 100MG
COMMON
- increase
in red blood cell count (cells which carry the oxygen in your blood),
hematocrit (percentage of red blood cells in blood) and haemoglobin (the
component of red blood cells that carries the oxygen), identified by
periodic blood tests - weight gain
For children and adolescents:
The following side effects have been reported in the pre-pubertal children using androgens:
- early sexual development
- penis enlargement
- an increased frequency of erections
- growth limitation (limited body height)
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
BREASTFEEDING
DANAZOLE 100MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
This medicine has no influence on the driving or using machines.
ALCOHOL
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during management with DANAZOLE 100MG.
KIDNEY
DANAZOLE 100MG should be taken with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice.
LIVER
DANAZOLE 100MG should be taken with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Consult your doctor for advice.
ALLERGY
Do not take if you are allergic to this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
If you have any heart related problems, consult your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
OTHERS
Do not take DANAZOLE 100MG if you have or had:
- a tumour of your prostate or breast or are suspected to have one of these tumours
- breast cancer which has spread to the bones
- blood
clotting problems – thrombophilia (an abnormality of blood coagulation
that increases the risk of thrombosis – blood clots in blood vessels)
INTERACTIONS
Talk to your doctor if you are taking:
- anticoagulants (drugs to manage blood clots)
- antibiotics such as rifampicin
- barbiturates, carbamazepine, dichloralphenazone, phenylbutazone, phenytoin and primidone
