INTRODUCTION ABOUT FENSTUD INJECTION
FENSTUD INJECTION contains Fentanyl which belongs to the group of medicine called Opioid Analgesics. It is used in the management of severe pain. It provides pain relief during and after short surgical procedures.
During major surgical procedures, it is commonly used prior to and along with certain anesthetics (Ex. halothane, sevoflurane) and neuroleptic medicines to induce and maintain anesthesia (loss of sensation) and/or pain relief. It is frequently used to supplement anaesthetics which permits the use of anaesthetic at low doses.
Before receiving FENSTUD INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have asthma or any other breathing problems, muscle weakness, thyroid deficiency, severe undiagnosed headaches, alcoholism or a previous history of drug abuse as a precaution.
If you are currently taking or recently took any sleeping pills or medicines used for depression, make sure to inform your doctor before FENSTUD INJECTION is given to you.
The most common side effects of receiving FENSTUD INJECTION are pain and swelling at the site of injection, nausea, vomiting, muscle stiffness, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, low blood pressure, blurred vision, low pulse, wheezing or breathing difficulties. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

HOW FENSTUD INJECTION WORKS
FENSTUD INJECTION is a pain-relieving medication. It works by blocking the transmission of pain signals between the affected sites and the brain which helps in reducing pain sensation.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
FENSTUD INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein (intravenously). Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition.
SIDE EFFECTS OF FENSTUD INJECTION
COMMON
- muscle stiffness
- nausea or vomiting
- agitation, jerky or uncoordinated movements
- dizziness, drowsiness
- blurred vision, blind spots or haloes around lights
- slow or irregular heartbeat
- very low or high blood pressure
- pain at the injected site
- choking, caused by cramping of the throat muscles
- wheezing or difficulty in breathing
- skin rash and redness
- confusion
UNCOMMON
- a feeling of extreme happiness (euphoria)
- headache
- swelling and clotting along the injected vein
- changes in blood pressure
- fast breathing than usual
- hiccups
- decrease in body temperature or chills
- breathing complications
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects after receiving FENSTUD INJECTION:
- severe allergic reaction (such as skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, throat, raised lumps on the skin, fever and collapse)
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Constipation
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.
Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.
Headache
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Injection Site Reactions
Place an ice pack on the injected site. Do not move the affected area frequently. If the symptom worsens, consult your doctor.
Nausea And Vomiting
Stick to simple meals and avoid oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if nausea worsens.
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY
Risky
Inform your doctor before FENSTUD INJECTION is given to you, if you are pregnant, or think you may be pregnant. FENSTUD INJECTION should not be given during childbirth as it may affect the baby’s breathing.
BREASTFEEDING
Contraindicated
FENSTUD INJECTION may pass through breast milk. Therefore, it is not recommended to breastfeed the infant for at least 24 hours after receiving this medicine.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Use with Caution
FENSTUD INJECTION may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Therefore, do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines until the effects of this medicine wears off completely.
ALCOHOL
Consult your doctor
Avoid consumption of alcohol before receiving FENSTUD INJECTION.
KIDNEY
Use with Caution
FENSTUD INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it.
LIVER
Use with Caution
FENSTUD INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it.
ALLERGY
Contraindicated
Inform your doctor before receiving FENSTUD INJECTION if you are allergic to Fentanyl or to any other opioid analgesic medications.
LUNGS
Consult your doctor
FENSTUD INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with asthma, shallow breathing or other breathing difficulties. It should be used with caution in patients with other lung diseases. Therefore, inform your doctor before receiving it.
USE IN PEDIATRICS
Use with Caution
FENSTUD INJECTION should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Proper dose adjustments and careful monitoring are required in such patients.
USE IN GERIATRICS
Use with Caution
