Omnacortil Syrup 60ml is used to treat different types of inflammatory conditions such as lupus, arthritis, psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, allergic disorders, and gland disorders. It also treats certain allergies of eyes, lungs, stomach, nervous system, and blood cells. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.

Composition

The active ingredient of Omnacortil Syrup 60ml is Prednisolone 5mg/5ml.

Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Prednisolone is a steroid that prevents the release of inflammation-causing agents. Thus treats and prevents allergies.

Contraindications and Caution

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before taking the Omnacortil Syrup 60ml:

Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the Omnacortil Syrup 60ml such as Prednisolone

Systemic fungal infection

Cerebral malaria

Avoid abrupt withdrawal

Caution:

Active infection

Measles or varicella exposure

Pheochromocytoma risk

Recent MI

Diabetes mellitus

Ulcerative colitis

Diverticulitis

Recent intestinal anastomosis

GI perforation risk

Seizure disorder

Psychiatric disorder

Thyroid disorder

Myasthenia gravis

Optic neuritis

Ocular HSV

Renal impairment

Side and Adverse Effects

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Omnacortil Syrup 60ml. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

Cushingoid appearance

Hirsutism

Weight gain

Erythema

Abdominal discomfort

Appetite changes

Emotional lability

Rash / urticaria

Nausea / vomiting

Sodium and fluid retention

Hypokalemia

BP elevated

Edema

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by the doctor.
Omnacortil Syrup 60ml is meant for oral administration. Shake the bottle well before administration. Dosage can be administered with the cap that comes along with the container.

Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which may be dangerous to your health.
Take Omnacortil Syrup 60ml with food.
Dosage as suggested by your doctor or follow the instructions given on the prescription.
