INTRODUCTION ABOUT REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET is a combination of Chlorthalidone and Metoprolol which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensive drugs. REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET is used to manage mild to moderate hypertension (high blood pressure). Hypertension is a condition in which the force of the blood is consistently high against the walls of the arteries which can increase the risk of heart disease, kidney disease and stroke. Â
During the course of the management, your doctor might regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function test and electrolyte balance to avoid any untoward side effects. Before taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have diabetes, muscle pain on activity that goes away on rest or worsening of that pain and schedule for any planned surgery.
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you are unable to pass urine, have signs of low blood potassium levels such as muscle weakness or muscle twitching, gout, Addison’s disease (your adrenal gland does not produce enough steroids), low blood pressure and suffer from advanced blood circulation disorder in arms or legs.
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women which is also not recommended for use in children (aged below 6 years). It should be used with caution in elderly patients.Â
The most common side effects of taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET are tiredness, headache, dizziness, stomach pain, nausea, constipation and loss of appetite. Consult your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen.

HOW REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET WORKS
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET lowers blood pressure, where chlorthalidone inhibits sodium reabsorption at the kidney tubule by blocking the sodium-chloride symporter which results in increasing the excretion of sodium and extracellular fluid and decreasing intravascular water and solute concentration which causes a reduction in pressure on walls resulting in reduced blood pressure and metoprolol reduces the effect of stress hormones on the heart related to physical and mental exertion, resulting in the heart beating slower (pulse rate reduced).
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

COMMON

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea:
Take REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET with or just a after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if your symptom does not improve.
Headache:
Drink ample amount of water. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress-free. Ask your doctor before taking any medicine for headaches.
Dizziness:
Lie down until the dizziness is gone, then get up slowly. Move slowly and carefully, do not hurry. Get adequate rest. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. Avoid coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. Consult your doctor if your symptom does not improve.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fibre-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if your symptom does not improve.
Loss of appetite:
Eat when you are hungry. Eat smaller meals more often than usual. Snack only when you’re hungry. Eat a nutritious snack which is rich in calories and protein, such as dried fruit and nuts. Consult your doctor if your symptom does not improve.

PREGNANCY
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET.
BREASTFEEDING
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk and could harm the baby. Consult your doctor before taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or use any machines if you feel dizzy or tired after taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET.
ALCOHOL
Avoid consuming alcohol while taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET as it might alter the effect of this medicine.
KIDNEY
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney problems, kidney stones or if you are not passing any urine at all. Consult your doctor before taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET.
LIVER
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems. It should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET.
ALLERGY
Do not take REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET if you are allergic to Chlorthalidone, Metoprolol or sulphonamides such as sulfamethoxazole.
LUNGS
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with asthma or problems with narrowing of the airways. Consult your doctor before taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET.
HEART DISEASE
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from shock due to severe heart problems, sick sinus syndrome (heart disease), serious heart block, unmanageed heart insufficiency, very low heart rate, recent heart attack with special conditions (heart rate <45 beats per minute, the upper value of your blood pressure is <100 mmHg), upper value of blood pressure <100 mmHg at lying. It should be used with caution in patients with chest pain due to spasms of the coronary arteries. Consult your doctor before taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET.
OTHERS
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have the inability to pass urine
- have signs of low blood potassium levels such as muscle weakness, muscle twitching
- have signs of low blood sodium levels such as tiredness, confusion, muscle twitching, fits or coma
- have signs of high blood calcium levels such as loss of appetite, tiredness, muscle weakness
- ever had gout
- have Addison’s disease (your adrenal gland does not produce enough steroids)
- have low blood pressure
- suffer from advanced blood circulation disorder in arms or legs
Before taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have severe conditions with increased concentrations of acid agents in the body
- have muscle pain on activity that goes away on rest or worsening of that pain
- are going to have any surgery
- are on a low-salt diet
- have diabetes mellitus (high blood sugar)
- have high cholesterol levels
Use in paediatrics:
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children (below 6 years of age). It should be used with caution in children and adolescents (from 6 to 18 years). Consult your child’s doctor for advice.
Use in geriatrics:
REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Consult your doctor before taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug – Drug interactions:
Before taking REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- medicines used to manage heart conditions like high blood pressure and heart insufficiency (Ex. propafenone, amiodarone, quinidine, verapamil, diltiazem, clonidine, disopyramide, hydralazine, digoxin, lisinopril, propranolol, methyldopa, amlodipine, guanethidine)
- medicines used to manage fits (Ex. phenobarbital, secobarbital)
- medicines used to relieve pain or manage rheumatism (Ex. aspirin, indomethacin, celecoxib)
- adrenaline (used to manage acute shock and severe allergic reactions)
- phenylpropanolamine (used to reduce swelling of nasal mucosa)
- diphenhydramine (used to manage allergies)
- medicines used to manage fungal infections (Ex. terbinafine, amphotericin)
- rifampicin (used to manage tuberculosis)
- medicines used to lower pressure in the eyes (Ex. timolol, carteolol)
- medicines used to manage parkinson’s disease (Ex. selegiline, phenelzine, amantadine)
- medicines inhaled to make you insensitive to pain (Ex. nitrous oxide, halothane)
- medicines used to manage high blood sugar levels (Ex. insulin, chlorpropamide, glibenclamide)
- cimetidine (used to manage acidity)
- medicines used to manage depression (Ex. paroxetine, fluoxetine, sertraline)
- medicines used to manage allergic and inflammatory conditions and immune reactions (Ex. prednisolone, betamethasone)
- adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) (used to manage colitis and crohn’s disease, and rheumatoid arthritis)
- medicines used to manage cancer (Ex. cyclophosphamide, methotrexate)
- medicines used to manage asthma (Ex. salbutamol, formoterol)
- carbenoxolone (used to manage ulcers)
- lithium (used to manage mental illness)
- medicines used to manage stomach spasms or cramps (Ex. atropine, hyoscine)
- cholestyramine (used to lower cholesterol levels and manage heart disease)
- allopurinol (used to manage gout)
- ciclosporin (used to manage rheumatic disease, skin problems, or after a transplant)
- medicines used for replacement therapy (Ex. calcium salts or vitamin D)
B. Drug – Food interaction:
Avoid having low-salt diets with REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET, as it may reduce the amount of salt in your body.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Overdosage symptom of REVELOL CH 50/6.25MG TABLET includes excessively low blood pressure and a decrease in heart rate that can even lead to cardiac arrest, heart muscle weakness and shock. Other symptoms include breathing problems, constriction of the muscles in the respiratory tract, vomiting, disturbances of consciousness and even fits.
