Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding before taking SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET.
SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use in babies under one month of age. Consult the child’s doctor for advice.
The most common side effects of taking SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET are nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and diarrhea. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

HOW SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET WORKS
Sulphadiazine works by inhibiting the growth and multiplication of the bacteria that cause infections.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Always take Salphaz 500mg Tablet as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water, and do not crush or chew the tablet. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, condition, and body weight.
SIDE EFFECTS OF SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET
COMMON
- nausea, vomiting
- loss of appetite
- diarrhea
RARE
Stop taking SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET and inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- potentially life-threatening skin rashes (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis) include reddish target-like spots or circular patches, often with central blisters on the trunk. Other signs include ulcers in the mouth, throat, nose, genitals, and conjunctivitis (red and swollen eyes), accompanied by flu-like symptoms. The rash may progress to widespread blistering or peeling of the skin
- signs of allergic reactions such as rash, itching, redness and blistering of the skin, swelling of your face or throat, or collapse, difficulty breathing, peeling of the skin, sensitivity to light, fever, painful joints, swelling of your lymph nodes, and feeling generally unwell
- other signs include problems with your kidneys and liver, such as jaundice (yellowing of your skin or whites of your eyes), inflammation of your heart muscle, blood vessels, pancreas, or lungs.
- blood disorders causing sore throats, mouth ulcers, infections, or a tendency to bruise or bleed easily
- severe diarrhea

- blood in your urine or passing less urine than usual
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Diarrhea
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices, to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Contact your doctor if your diarrhea does not improve.

Nausea And Vomiting
Take SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea and vomiting do not improve.

Skin Rash Or Itching
Avoid hot baths because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing while going outside. Use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if your rashes worsen.

PREGNANCY

You should talk to your doctor if you wish to breast-feed while taking SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET since small amounts of this medicine pass into breast milk and there is a risk of brain damage to your newborn child.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.

KIDNEY
Contraindicated
SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor before using it.

LIVER
Contraindicated
SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have severe liver disease such as jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes). Consult your doctor before using it.

ALLERGY
Contraindicated
Do not take Salphaz 500mg Tablet if you are allergic to sulphadiazine, sulphonamides, or any of the other ingredients in this medicine.

LUNGS

SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients who are suffering from asthma. Consult your doctor before taking it.

USE IN PEDIATRICS

OTHERS
SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have a kind of meningitis caused by Meningococcus bacteria (unless your doctor prescribes)
- have blood problems such as porphyria (a rare disorder that affects red blood cell production)
Before taking SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have a deficiency of folic acid
- suffer from allergies
- have AIDS
- have lupus erythematosus (problems with the immune system)
- have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (a type of hereditary anaemia)
- are scheduled for a urine test
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug Interactions:
Inform your physician if you are using any of the following drugs before taking SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET:
- clozapine (antipsychotics)
- pyrimethamine, methamine, or trimethoprim (other antibiotics)
- warfarin (anticoagulant)
- diuretics
- chlorpropamide or tolbutamide (anti-diabetics)
- phenytoin (anti-epileptics)
- probenecid (uricosurics)
- aspirin (anti-inflammatory drugs)
- methotrexate (anticancer drugs)
- procaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, or tetracaine (general and local anaesthetics)
- oral contraceptives
- Potassium aminobenzoate
- sunscreens containing para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA)
- ciclosporin (immunosuppressive agents)
- oral typhoid vaccination
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of the SALPHAZ 500MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Signs of an overdose include nausea and diarrhea.
