Introduction About ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET
ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET is a combination of Clonazepam and Desvenlafaxine which belongs to the group of medicines called Anticonvulsants and Antidepressants respectively. It is used to manage depression. It can also be used in the management of epilepsy (fits), panic disorder and in certain types of phobias (fears).
Before taking ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any problems in your liver, kidney or heart. You must also inform your doctor if you have glaucoma, breathing problems, bleeding disorders or any previous history of drug abuse, alcohol abuse or suicide as a precaution.
Talk to your doctor if you have taken any antidepressant (especially monoamine oxidase inhibitor) within the last 14 days before taking this medicine. Do not take ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
The most common side effects of taking ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET are dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, weak muscles, memory loss, headache, nausea, stomach upset, hair loss, low sex drive, increased sweating, constipation and dry mouth. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect troubles you.
Also, inform your doctor immediately if you experience any worsening of depression, unusual behaviour or have suicidal thoughts after taking ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET.

How ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET Works
ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET contains two medicines namely clonazepam and desvenlafaxine. Clonazepam is an anticonvulsant. It suppresses the abnormal electrical activity within the brain and induces calmness which helps in reducing fits.
Desvenlafaxine is an antidepressant medicine. It works by regulating the release and uptake of certain chemical messengers (dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine) within the brain that affects thoughts, emotions, body movements and behaviour. As a result, it manages seizures, improves your ability to think, controls your emotions and stabilizes your mental health.
How to use ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET
Take ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not cursh or chew the medicine.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of theray for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Do not stop taking ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better during the mid-way of therapy as it could lead to withdrawal symptoms such as depression, nervousness, difficulty in sleeping, irritability, sweating, diarrhea, confusion, mood changes, lack of sleep, hallucinations and/or rapid heartbeats.
Side Effects Of ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET

Rare
Stop taking ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- suicidal thoughts and behaviour
- signs of allergic reactions (such as skin rash, itching, swellling of the face, lips, tongue and throat which causes difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
- changes in behavior (such as feeling agitated, restless, aggressive, irritable, violent or angry, false beliefs, nightmares and hallucinations or other inappropriate behavior)
- fits
- signs of heart problems (such as fast or irregular heart rate, chest pain, swollen ankles, fainting, dizziness upon standing)
- signs of serotonin syndrome (feeling agitated, hallucinations, confusion, loss of consciousness, fast heartbeat, feeling dizzy, increased sweating, flushing, tremors, stiff muscles, or muscle twitching, loss of coordination, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or seizures)
- worsening of hypertension (high blood pressure)
- increased signs of bleeding or bruising
- problems in vision (such as blurred vision, eye swelling or pain, seeing halos around lights and glaucoma)
- low blood sodium levels (causing headache, nausea, difficulty in concentration, memory impairment, confusion, feeling weak or unsteady, hallucinations, fainting or seizures)
- troubled breathing, chest pain or coughing
- severe upper abdominal pain, swollen and tender abdomen, fever
How To Manage Side Effects
Constipation
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.
Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.
Headache
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Nausea And Vomiting
Take ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.

ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered necessary by the physician, as it may harm the growing baby. Therefore, inform your doctor before taking ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant or planning to have a baby.
Breastfeeding

Others
ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have myasthenia gravis (severe muscle weakness)
- have sleep apnea (breathing stops and starts during sleep)
- have an history of alcoholism or drug abuse
Before taking ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have previously experienced depression with thoughts of committing suicide
- are an alcoholic
- have poor muscle control caused due to problems in nervous system
- have porphyria (a rare inherited blood disorder)
- are scheduled for any operation in the upcoming days
- have had stroke or any other circulatory disorders
- have or ever had any bleeding problems
- have or have a family history of various mental illness (such as bipolar disorder, mania, and hypomania)
- have high blood cholesterols levels
- have low blood sodium levels (causing tiredness, confusion, and muscle weakness)
- have glaucoma
Interactions
A. Drug – Drug interactions:
Before taking ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine such as:
- medicines used to manage epilepsy (such as carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, sodium valproate, primidone)
- medicines used for pain relief (such as aspirin, celecoxib, tramadol, ibuprofen, diclofenac)
- medicines used to manage high blood pressure (such as ramipril, candesartan, amlodipine, doxazosin)
- medicines used to reduce anxiety and to induce sleep (such as alprazolam, midazolam, lorazepam, nitrazepam)
- muscle relaxants (used for muscle relaxation prior to surgeries) such as tubocurarine
- cimetidine (a medicine used for managing stomach ulcers)
- rifampicin (a medicine used to manage tuberculosis)
- opioid analgesic medications (such as buprenorphine, morphine, codeine or propoxyphene, pethidine, fentanyl etc.)
- other medicines used to manage depression such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Ex. moclobemide, isocarboxazid, phenelzine and tranylcypromine), tricyclic antidepressants (Ex. amitriptyline, nortriptyline), lithium, fluoxetine, sertraline, citalopram, escitalopram etc.
- linezolid (an antibiotic used to manage bacterial infection)
- intravenous methylene blue (used to manage abnormal methemoglobin levels in blood)
- medicines used to manage migraine headaches (such as sumatriptan, zolmitriptan)
- tryptophan (an aminoacid used for maintaing mental health)
- buspirone (a medicine used to reduce anxiety)
- amphetamines (used as CNS stimulants) Ex. dexamphetamine and lisdexamphetamine
- dextromethorphan (a cough medicine)
- methadone (a medicine used to manage pain or drug addiction)
- pentazocaine (an anesthetic used to cause numbness before surgeries)
- St. John’s Wort (an herbal medicine used to manage depression)
- medicines that can affect blood clotting (such as aspirin or warfarin)
- medicines used to manage psychotic disorders (Ex. chlorpromazine, prochlorperazine, trihexiphenidyl)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took more ZYVEN OD PLUS 50MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose might include headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, low blood pressure, breathing difficulties, feeling agitated, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, numbness of body parts and fast heart rate.
