INTRODUCTION ABOUT KENACORT 40MG INJECTION

KENACORT 40MG INJECTION contains Triamcinolone which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids. It is used to manage pain, swelling and stiffness in joints as seen in various disorders such as Rheumatoid Arthritis. It is also used to manage various allergic disorders such as asthma, hormonal problems, rheumatic fever and various disorders of the digestive system, skin, kidneys and lungs.

KENACORT 40MG INJECTION is not recommended if you are diagnosed with any condition affecting the kidney, liver and thyroid gland or any infection, hypertension and heart failure. Before taking KENACORT 40MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have/had infection recently such as Tuberculosis (TB), diabetes, bowel surgery, stomach ulcer and/or a bowel disorder, inflamed veins or infection in legs, mental health disorder, epilepsy, any form of cancer, osteoporosis (thick and brittle bones, myasthenia gravis, glaucoma, have visual disturbances, loss of vision, inflammation of the retina (viral retinitis) or of eyes (red, bloodshot eyes) etc.

KENACORT 40MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in children below 6 years of age. Also, pregnant and nursing women are recommended to inform the doctor about their pregnancy and breastfeeding status, before receiving KENACORT 40MG INJECTION. The most common side effects of taking KENACORT 40MG INJECTION are increased risk of infection, reaction at the site reaction, headache and pain in joints. Consult your doctor if any of your symptoms get worse or persist.

HOW KENACORT 40MG INJECTION WORKS

KENACORT 40MG INJECTION is used to inhibit the synthesis of various chemicals that cause inflammation namely prostaglandins and leukotrienes. It works by decreasing the expression of cyclo-oxygenase, lipoxygenase enzymes, responsible for their production. It also decreases the activity of a certain nuclear factor called kappa-B which leads to decreased production of interleukin 6 and 8, which are pro-inflammatory substances.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

KENACORT 40MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse in the muscles or joints. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF KENACORT 40MG INJECTION

COMMON

  • increased risk of infection

  • feeling dizzy
  • fainting
  • feeling depressed
  • thoughts about suicide
  • feelings of euphoria and mania
  • mood changes
  • feeling anxious/irritable
  • difficulty in thinking and confusion
  • loss of memory
  • feeling, seeing, or hearing things that do not exist
  • having strange and frightening thoughts

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Headache

Stay hydrated and avoid taking products rich in caffeine and avoid harsh lights and loud sounds. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the forehead if needed. Consult your doctor if your symptom gets worse or persist.

Indigestion

Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating heavily rich or spicy food. Stay hydrated. Consult your doctor if it persists or gets worse.

Nausea And Vomiting

Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating heavily rich or spicy food. Drink oral rehydration solution to compensate for the loss of water and minerals. Stay hydrated. Consult your doctor if it persists or gets worse.

Tiredness

Visual Disturbances

Keep your spectacles and contact lenses and lens case clean. Also, wash your eyes frequently with water and try to reduce the time spent in front of the screen. Pay a visit to a doctor if the problem worsens or gets prolonged. Consult your doctor if it persists or gets worse.

Weight Gain

Eat healthy and well-balanced meals throughout the day which are packed with healthy and vital nutrients and vitamins. Also, moderate physical exercise is recommended. Consult your doctor if it persists or gets worse.

LIVER

ALLERGY

Contraindicated

It is not recommended to receive KENACORT 40MG INJECTION if you are allergic to Triamcinolone and/or any other constituent found in KENACORT 40MG INJECTION. Consult your doctor before receiving it.

HEART DISEASE

It is not recommended to receive KENACORT 40MG INJECTION if you have increased blood pressure or heart failure. Consulted your doctor before receiving it.

OTHERS

KENACORT 40MG INJECTION is not recommended for use if you:

  • are suffering from an infection and are not receiving any medication for it

Before taking KENACORT 40MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you:

  • recently had an infection such as Tuberculosis (TB)
  • had bowel surgery recently
  • have or ever had a stomach ulcer and/or a bowel disorder
  • have inflamed veins or infection in legs
  • have disorderly mental health
  • have epilepsy
  • have or had any disorder of the kidney, liver or thyroid gland
  • recently had any form of cancer
  • have osteoporosis, which is a disorder characterized by thick and brittle bones
  • have myasthenia gravis, which is a disease characterized by weak muscles
  • are diagnosed with glaucoma, have visual disturbances, loss of vision, inflammation of the retina (viral retinitis) or of eyes (red, bloodshot eyes)
  • have a family history of glaucoma
  • have diabetes or if your dosage needs to be changed

Use in Pediatrics:

KENACORT 40MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in children less than the age of 6. Consult your doctor for advice.
