INTRODUCTION

SORBITRATE 10MG contains Isosorbide dinitrate which belongs to the group of medicines called Nitrate Vasodilators. It is used to prevent angina pectoris due to coronary artery disease and helps to control certain types of heart failure.

Angina pectoris is defined as a sudden, sharp, severe pain originating from the apex of heart and radiating to the left shoulder. The pain is severe and crushing, and it is characterized by feeling of pressure and suffocation, behind breastbone.

SORBITRATE 10MG is not recommended for use if you have anaemia, had a heart attack, bleeding in the brain, head injury, very low blood pressure, low blood volume (hypovolaemia). Before taking SORBITRATE 10MG, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, heart, or thyroid problems, glaucoma, or extremely low body temperature. Avoid consumption of alcohol during management with SORBITRATE 10MG as it may increase the risk of low blood pressure.

If you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant or planning to have a baby ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. SORBITRATE 10MG should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it. Along with the management, your doctor might advice you to make certain lifestyle changes such as quitting alcohol and smoking, improve your sleep at night, eating a healthy diet and manage weight.

The most common side effects of taking SORBITRATE 10MG are headache, low blood pressure, dizziness when standing up, rapid heartbeat, drowsiness, tiredness, and swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms get worse.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take SORBITRATE 10MG as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you based upon your age and disease condition. Do not stop taking SORBITRATE 10MG unless your doctor advises you to stop.
