INTRODUCTION ABOUT NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET

NICIP
COLD & FLU TABLET is a combination of Caffeine, Diphenhydramine,
Paracetamol, and Phenylephrine which belongs to the group of medicines
called CNS Stimulants, Antihistamines, Analgesics-Antipyretics, and
Nasal Decongestants respectively. It is used to relieve flu and cold
symptoms, headache, body ache, extreme weakness, watery eyes, fever,
cough, sore throat, sneezing, runny, and congested nose.

NICIP
COLD & FLU TABLET is not recommended for use in children and
adolescents (aged less than 12 years). Before taking NICIP COLD &
FLU TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any heart, kidney, liver,
heart, thyroid, prostrate, or breathing problems, or if you are taking
any medicines for depression.

NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET is not
recommended for use in pregnancy. NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET should be
used with caution in breastfeeding women, so consult your doctor before
taking it. The most common side effects of taking NICIP COLD & FLU
TABLET are nausea, vomiting, headache, sleep problems, sleepiness,
restlessness, dizziness. Contact your doctor if any of the above side
effects worsen.

It is used to relieve:

HOW NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET WORKS

NICIP
COLD & FLU TABLET relieves cold and flu symptoms where paracetamol
inhibits the release of certain chemical messengers responsible for
causing pain and fever, diphenhydramine relieves allergy symptoms like
watery eyes, sneezing, and runny nose, phenylephrine narrows the small
blood vessels and relieves congestion and stuffy nose, and caffeine
enhances the action of paracetamol and decreases drowsiness caused by
diphenhydramine.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take
NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow with a
glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will
decide the correct dose and duration of NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET for
you according to your age, body weight and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET

COMMON

  • nausea, vomiting
  • headache, dizziness
  • sleep problems, sleepiness
  • restlessness

Stop taking NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • tiredness, drowsiness, reduced attention, unsteadiness, dry mouth

  • blurred vision
  • throbbing sensation, irregular heartbeat
  • muscle twitching, fits, pins and needles sensation

    Steven Johnson syndrome (SJS), and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN)

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Dizziness Or Drowsiness

Lie
down until dizziness is resolved, then get up slowly. Do not hurry and
move slowly and carefully. Get adequate rest. Drink plenty of water and
other fluids. Avoid coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs. If dizziness
does not improve, consult your doctor.

Headache

Drink
ample amount of water. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress
free. Consult your doctor before taking any medicine for headache. If
headache does not improve, contact your doctor.

Nausea And Vomiting

Take
NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET with, or just after meals. Stick to simple
meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. If nausea does not improve,
contact your doctor. Get adequate rest. Drink lots of fluids, especially
water. Have small sips if you feel sick. Do not take any medicine for
vomiting without your doctor’s consultation. If vomiting does not
improve, contact your doctor.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Use with Caution

Do
not drive or use any machines if you feel dizzy or sleepy or have
decreased alertness after taking NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET.

ALCOHOL

Consult your doctor

Avoid
consumption of alcohol with NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET. It should be
used with caution in chronic alcohol users and patients with alcohol
dependence. Consult your doctor for advice.

KIDNEY

Use with Caution

NICIP
COLD & FLU TABLET should be used with caution in patients having
kidney problems and urinary retention. Consult your doctor before taking
it.

LIVER

Use with Caution

NICIP
COLD & FLU TABLET should be used with caution in patients with
alcoholic liver disease or other liver problems. Consult your doctor
before taking it.

ALLERGY

Contraindicated

Do
not take NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET if you are allergic to Caffeine,
Diphenhydramine, Paracetamol, Phenylephrine, or any of the other
ingredients of this medicine.

LUNGS

Use with Caution

NICIP
COLD & FLU TABLET should be used with caution in patients with
respiratory conditions like emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or bronchial
asthma. Consult your doctor before taking it.

HEART DISEASE

Consult your doctor

NICIP
COLD & FLU TABLET is not recommended in patients with serious heart
conditions or high blood pressure. NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET should
be used with caution in patients with Raynaud’s phenomenon (a blood
vessel disease), and other heart or circulation diseases. Consult your
doctor before taking it.

USE IN PEDIATRICS

Contraindicated

NICIP
COLD & FLU TABLET is not recommended for use in children and
adolescents (aged less than 12 years). Consult your doctor before taking
it.

USE IN GERIATRICS

Use with Caution

NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking it.

OTHERS

NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

  • have an overactive thyroid
  • have an enlarged prostate gland or other prostrate problems
  • have persistent or chronic cough, or cough with excessive secretions

Before taking NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

  • have increased pressure inside your eye
  • have diabetes (high blood sugar)

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

  • cholestyramine (used to reduce blood fat levels)
  • medicines used to manage nausea (Ex. metoclopramide, domperidone)
  • medicines use for blood thinning (Ex. warfarin, psoralen)
  • medicines
    used to manage high blood pressure and other heart or circulatory
    problems (Ex. atenolol, methyldopa, trimetaphancamsylate)
  • medicines used to manage depression (Ex. amitriptyline, phenelzine)
  • atropine (used for pupil dilation)
  • medicines used to manage allergies of skin and in cold and cough (Ex. chlorpheniramine, clemastine)
  • flucloxacillin (used to manage infections)

B. Drug-Food interaction:

Avoid
caffeine-containing medications, food, and beverages like tea and
coffee while taking NICIP COLD & FLU TABLET as it may cause shaking,
uncomfortable feeling in the chest or difficulty sleeping.

Overdosage:

If
you or anyone else accidentally took too much of NICIP COLD & FLU
TABLET, contact your doctor immediately. Symptoms of overdose are liver
damage.
